Technical Specifications and NEC-Win Version Comparisions

NEC-Win Professional was designed to provide an easy-to-use tool for antenna designers that will facilitate the design and analysis process. The intuitive nature of the graphical interface will help you produce outstanding results, fast! Features like 3-D visualization, real time rotate, pan, and zoom with the mouse, let you see more views of your design interactively. Spread-sheet-style data entry of the wire coordinates, and the copy, cut, and paste commands, make it simpler to place your information into commercial spread sheet programs to run formulas and variables. NEC-Win Pro encourages you to push the design parameters to levels you may have been reluctant to build and test in the past.

NEC-Win Pro will display your radiation patterns on screen or print in full color for presentations or review of your work. Plus, you can save your screen, or a portion of it, as a bitmap file to place into a word-processing program as a graphic element. This powerful antenna design and analysis tool gives you unmatched levels of performance and incredible options. NEC-Win Pro is a dream come true for professionals in the field.

Included with NEC-Win Pro is a modified NEC2 core which has been optimized for the 32 bit operating system. The core supports DMA (dynamic memory allocation) and is capable of calculating the results for thousands of segments. If your computer has the resources the core will use them.

What is the Frequency Limitation of NEC ?

There is no limit on the frequency range, although NEC is usually not used for frequencies above 2 GHZ. NEC is dependent on the structure geometry, not the frequency. If the structure can be modeled following the NEC guidelines, than the appropiate frequency can be used.

NEC-Win Pro Features

What is Numerical Electromagnetics Code (NEC) ?

The Numerical Electromagnetics Code (NEC) is an outgrowth of a program developed in the 1970s, called the Antenna Modeling Program (AMP). There are at least 4 versions of NEC, with NEC-2 emerging in 1981 and NEC-4 appearing in 1992. NEC-2 is the highest version of the code under public domain. NEC-4 remains proprietary with the Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory and the University of California. It requires a separate license for use.

NEC in all its forms is a computer code for the analysis of the electromagnetic response of antennas and other metal structures that uses method-of-moments techniques for the numerical solution to integral equations for the currents induced on an antenna structure by sources or incident fields. The approach has no theoretical limit and may be used for very large arrays or for the very fine subdivision of smaller arrays. The NEC-Win products contain enhanced versions of all NEC cores.
